Lately, I’ve been posting a bit less on here than I would like. My Examiner.com page is getting some more attention, I’m posting at the Hop Press, and I’m also working my day job. So when news came across my path, I considered writing it as its own article then writing a Beer of the Week article to boost my posts. Just didn’t seem right. So this week’s Beer of the Week is Lagunitas’ Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’ Ale with a bit of an announcement to come at the end. Continue reading Beer of the Week: Lagunitas Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’ Ale

My posts for SF Beer Week have been a bit delayed. Bad internet access and a new job have pushed my posts back, but I’m ready to dive in and get back on track. First up, The Brewer’s Tapas Dinner at Lagunitas Brewing in Petaluma which took place last Tuesday. Riding shotgun with me for this event was fellow Hop Press writer Mark Dredge who was visiting us from London. Continue reading Hop Press: Lagunitas Brewer’s Tapas Dinner

For those unfamiliar with Northern California, the Skunk Train is an historic train that travels between Willits and Fort Bragg. Once a year, Lagunitas rents out the train for one of the coolest beer festivals I have ever been on. There’s the option of camping at the KOA in Willits over the weekend or catching the train in Willits at the depot Saturday morning. Being our first year, the wife and I thought the overnight party might be a bit much, so we headed out of Santa Rosa early in the morning and set off for Willits. Sometimes when picking my Beer of the Week, I have a plan. I pick something that seem appropriate for the season and schedule time to taste, take my picturesand enjoy it. When I’m really on my game, I even save a second bottle to drink while I write about the beer. This week was not one of those weeks, but Lagunitas Imperial Red definitely was deserving of the title of Beer of the Week. Continue reading Beer of the Week: Lagunitas Imperial red

Apparently I’m a bad man. A couple weeks back, I posted a picture on this blog featuring a yeasty hazy cask pint of Correction Ale. I knew the pint wasn’t a pretty one, and if I were a consumer, I may not have been happy with it, but I drank it, and enjoyed it. I realized today that some people were a little uneasy with the picture being posted without a proper explanation so today I am protecting the virtue to of the crew in Lagunitas and posting that explanation. When doing some background checking for the Undercover Shutdown Ale, I got a chance to talk to Lagunitas owner Tony McGee. While I had him on the phone, I took the opportunity to ask him about some of the upcoming beers that will be hitting the selves. Continue reading News From Petaluma

Another week, another beer to drink. This really is a tough job, but I will gladly be the one to carry this burden. This week I wanted to highlight one of my favorite local beers that has made its limited appearance. Say hello to Lagunitas’ Undercover Shutdown Ale.
