Coming up in the second week of February is SF Beer Week. During that week, brewers, pubs, bars, and beer lovers will join together and host events all over the Bay Area, bookended by the Bistro’s Double IPA Festival on February 7th and Toronado’s Barleywine Festival the 14th and the Celebrator Bay Area Beer Celebration on the 15th. Being a lover of beer, I made sure to contribute to SF Beer Week by planning 2 events for Brewed For Thought.
The first event will be a sort of kickoff event. I’m going back to my roots, specifically the Alpha Sigma Phi house at UC Berkeley, to host an Introduction to Belgian Beer. The event will cost $15 and include a flight of 5 tastings as well as a full pour to finish the evening. What will we be sampling? Affligem Blonde, Duvel, Chimay Red and Blue and St. Bernardus Abt 12. Participants will also be entered into a raffle for additional bottles of beer and other beer related schwag.
The second event will take place at the Toad in the Hole Pub on Tuesday the 10th. That evening we will welcome Tim Goeppinger of Sonoma Springs Brewing Company and a few of his beers to the Toad in the Hole. For $10 you will receive a tasting glass, a sample of each Sonoma Springs beers on tap that night as well as well as a full pour of your favorite. Tim will be bringing his rye-based Roggenbier, a cask Pale Ale conditioned with California common yeast (think Anchor Steam), and an altbier, Nobody’s Alt But Mine.
All promise to be a fun time. For additional information, contact me at mario(at)brewedforthought(dot)com.
