Happy Brew Year

So 2007 has come and gone and 2008 is here for another 365 days.  How did 2007 treat you?  Expectations for 2008?  Let us know about your past year and what resolutions you have for 2008.

2007 was a great year for me.  I’m a father!  Also, I got this blog going and it has been a great deal of fun, not to mention a wonderful excuse to drink more beer.  Yet another year has passed where I didn’t brew as much as I would like, and despite quite a search, I have not found a bottle of Jubilation 11.  My favorite beers of the year would have to be Lagunitas Kill Ugly Radio and Stone’s 11th Anniversary.

As for 2008 resolutions, I have to brew more, plain and simple.  It’s a rare thing for me now and I just need to do it.  I want at least 6 batches this year, easy goal, right?  We’ll see.  I also want to get on buying those anniversary/seasonal beers when they first hit the shelf.  Last year I missed Stone’s 10th Anniversary beer, and this year I missed out on the Jubilation 11 and Rasputin X.  I also want to get into cellaring more beer.  I drink less now than ever and the ability to hold on to a nice bottle of beer is increasing.  Might as well put aside a quality brew or two for a special occasion in the distant future.

So what does 2008 hold for us?  Where do malt and hop prices go?  How does this affect our brewing prices, and the price we pay for beer?  Another issue is the price of raw metals.  Will we see higher prices on kegs, and after that, higher draft prices?  What new breweries will make us smile, and which will lose our interest?

Hope 2007 was great and 2008 is even better!
