When I think of bad places to drink beer, Oklahoma immediately comes to mind. While I’ve never been to Oklahoma, I have heard the horror stories of “three-two beer.” So why is Oklahoma doin’ fine? Because they decided to maintain the status quo, and when facing the alternative, that ain’t so bad.
Apparently, beer wholesalers in Oklahoma really don’t see the point of serving quality beer. Specifically, they don’t see why “strong” beer should be rotated and why the taps to the kegs be cleaned every 2 weeks. These cleanings cost them $5 each. According to the wholesalers, this is making them go broke, and it should be up to the market to determine how to maintain beer. Poor keepers of beer will simply not sell beer by their reasoning.
Well, thankfully, the Alcoholic Beverage Laws Enforcement Commission voted 5-1 against these wholesalers to keep the laws intact. This is a good thing, especially when you consider some beer experts claim taps haven’t been cleaned in some cases for up to two years under the current law.
